To load the jaws for grinding, I slipped squares of nylon between the sides of the jaws so as the jaws were just entering the chucks center hole when tightened. The chuck repeats nicely, it was a very worn example. I found that dressing the stone so that less than 1/4" of the stones face contacts the work, makes for smoother grinding.
