IIRC gearsets are interchangeable between all transmissions, but please verify that before buying parts. M22's had a 20 degree angle on the teeth, all others had 30. that 572 is going to crack that muncie like an egg. i hear stock muncie rock crushers are rated at 375 foot lbs...which is like a nice 350 without aluminum heads. big torque requires an expensive clutch and standard transmission. a turbo 400 is a safer bet...all i know is that torque breaks stuff and torquey shock loads break stuff quicker.

The engine was a 425ftlb Gen2 Coyote sealed crate engine making a low 10sec pass @ 3100lbs. Note that how fast the clutch pulls the engine down has a huge effect on the height of the torque spike.

Many people have guesses about deciphering M-22s. Like grooves in the input shaft and numbers and etc etc... The only way to tell is to open the case and measure the gear angle from the shaft centerline. M-20 and M-21 have 45 degree gears and M-22 have 22.5 degree gears. The TKO600 might be rated at 600 ft. lbs. of torque, but it took the factory putting alittle over 1000 ft. lbs of torque to it to make it break. Along with the overdrive I feel that this makes the Tremec far superior to the Muncie.

Check out autogear. They sell a completely new M-22 that is much stronger than an original, and 10 times stronger than a new T-10 for around $1800. They have stronger main cases that resist distortion, cast iron midplates for better support, and all new and better quality parts.
